Professional Background

Nancy Gund obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Washington University and her graduate degree in Counseling and Testing Psychology from Catholic University in Washington, DC in 1984.


She began her career as a treating clinician at Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health in Fairfax County, Virginia.  For 14 years, she provided outpatient services to adults and children and was also the Coordinator of Psychological Services for the Fairfax County Police Department.  In that capacity, she lectured in the Police Academy on topics such as Critical Incident Stress, Substance Abuse, Public Safety Careers and Family Life, Communication Skills and the Functions of Psychological Wellness. She also provided clinical supervision of other therapists who were working towards licensure.

Since that time, she has been in private practice working with children and adults and couples. She also collaborates with the community through professional trainings, consultations and by offering onsite psychological services (CISM) to schools and employees following traumatic incidences such as suicide and school violence.
